I am a bioinformatics and computational biology researcher with a focus on clinical metagenomics, microbiome research, and high-performance computing (HPC). Currently, I am a PhD researcher in Microbiology at Teagasc Food and Agriculture Development Authority (Moorepark, Fermoy, Cork), where I am a Walsh Doctoral Scholar contributing to the DOMINO EU project, a large-scale, multi-site, multi-cohort initiative investigating food-associated microbiomes and their impact on human health and consumers.

Previously, as a core member of the Centre for Bioinformatics & Computational Biology (CBCB) at Aga Khan University, I contributed to multi-site research studies addressing critical challenges in women and child health. My work spans large-scale clinical metagenomic analyses to explore microbial diversity, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and functional genomics, particularly in maternal and neonatal health contexts. I have contributed to globally funded collaborative projects supported by organizations such as the World Health Organization, National Institutes of Health, Wellcome Trust, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

My expertise includes computational pipeline development, functional profiling, and HPC optimization, enabling the analysis of large-scale clinical and food microbiome datasets. My current PhD research integrates comparative microbial genomics and advanced bioinformatics to identify key microbial taxa for improved fermentation, food quality, and safety, while linking microbiome dynamics to human health outcomes.

In addition, I have contributed to clinical trials investigating probiotics and maternal health interventions and their influence on gut microbiota and health outcomes. I am also actively engaged in capacity building and mentorship, having designed and delivered training workshops in metagenomics and computational biology. My professional development includes international fellowships and training at international institutions.
