Biography

Jaime Garcia-Iglesias is Chancellor’s Fellow at the Centre for Biomedicine, Self and Society; School of Population Health Sciences; University of Edinburgh. He is a social scientist with expertise in infectious disease, particularly HIV, mpox, and COVID. He has published on the role of intimacy in risk behaviours, the role of social media platforms in pandemic response, and on viral memories. His focus is on social inequalities, community engagement, and qualitative and participatory methods. He has received funding from ESRC, Royal Society of Edinburgh, Medical Research Scotland, and Leverhulme Trust.
