Biography

I am Daniel, a Chilean scientist enthusiastic about bacteria’s ability to sense and cope with their environment. My research has centred on antibiotic biosynthesis, antibiotic resistance, and horizontal gene transfer. In my work I have leveraged assorted molecular biology techniques, comparative and functional genomic analysis, and ‘omics’.

My current main interests lie in phage-host interactions and how bacteria exchange genes, crucial for facing the antimicrobial resistance crisis.
