Early Career Researcher presentation:

Metagenomic sequencing for accurate pathogen detection in community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) and catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI)

Dr Mabi Behruznia, Research Fellow, University of Birmingham

Dr Mabi Behruznia is a Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham, Institute of Microbes, Infection and Microbiomes. Her research focuses on the application of metagenomic sequencing to identify microbial pathogens and characterise their antimicrobial resistance profiles from clinical samples. Her work aims to advance diagnostic workflows, improve patient outcomes, and strengthen pathogen surveillance by integrating metagenomic data into clinical and public-health settings. She is currently investigating community-acquired pneumonia and catheter-associated urinary tract infections using metagenomic approaches.

TARGetAMR Monthly Webinar Series:

The TARGetAMR webinar series takes place each month at lunchtime for one hour and participants discuss a specific research topic at each meeting.

The research topic of interest is presented at each meeting, followed by a Q&A session which usually leads into an in-depth discussion.

Each talk is supported by an Early Career Researcher (ECR) lightning presentation from an ECR across our TARGetAMR network.

The meetings are online [virtual meetings- via Teams] and are recorded for any members of our community that are unable to join us, which are then made available to view via the TARGetAMR website and YouTube channel.

The meetings are Chaired by our TARGetAMR Directors, who give a short network update at the start of each meeting.

We’d love you to join us!
